Golf is a game that has been played several hundred years now. It can be enjoyable, frustrating, and exciting all at the same time. Most beginners will appreciate learning new ways to enhance their play.
The game starts by teeing off, hitting the ball down the fairway. Then one attempts to hit the green and then put the ball into the cup. Courses vary from 9 holes to' holes. Some are easily walked, while others are so long they demand the use of a golf cart.
The point of the game is to put the ball into the cup with the least amount of strokes. The person who hits least, wins. Rules must be observed during play and getting to know them can be to your advantage. Etiquette plays a part also, so familiarity with basic etiquette is a good idea too.
Golf was first played in Scotland in the eighteen hundreds. Clubs were carved from wood and the ball was a bit of feathers with leather tightly stretched over them. Needless to say, there were no booming drives at this time. By the eighteen hundreds, golfing had spread all over the world. It is estimated that over 100 million people play golf each year now.
Due to Tiger's influence on the game, many more people are becoming interested in golf. Its relaxing to play. The rest of the world disappears when you play golf. In essence, you are in your own little world and nothing else matters.
Young people are getting in on the game too. They can play when in school or out of school. Schools are now including golf as a sport the kids can take up. Kids usually start golf habits in high school and continue them throughout their lives. Golf can be slow sometimes for a teenager, however, if they stick with it, it can be rewarding.
Executives are flocking to golf in droves. During these times of economic downturn, many executives are stressed and seek relief on the course. This can have several advantages for the harried executive. The can use the course as relaxation time as well as deal-making time. Some executives have gone as far as making deals exclusively on the course.
